February 2011 trucking conditions
Diesel prices finally moved front and center into fleets’ worries during February in the wake of turmoil in the Middle East and North Africa. Nearly a third (31.4%) of carrier executives participating in the Randall-Reilly MarketPulse survey for February listed fuel costs as their No. 1 concern. But driver availability wasn’t too far behind at 25.7% due to improved freight demand. And weather continued to hurt some carriers’ revenues.
